CHIANG MAI AND SURROUNDS BIKE TOUR
Clients are picked up from their hotel, fitted to a quality bike and helmet, introduced to our experienced guide for the day, and then taken on a memorable and informative tour of Chiang Mai’s most interesting locations, often unknown to tourists. We will shortly escape the busy city and ride along the tranquil Ping river to visit a beautiful country temple and a school for monks that is at the centre of Thai culture and religion. We drop in on a local market to sample a few tasty snacks and check out the fresh produce that is available direct from the nearby farms every morning. We cycle through inspiring McKean Institute originally created as a refuge for leprosy sufferers and experience the generosity and care the Thais give to the sick and underprivileged in their community. We will stop for a tasty khao-soi lunch in a peaceful local restaurant, and leisurely ride riverside trails through parklands, waving and saying hi to the friendly Thai people as they go about their daily business. Drop in to check out te ruins of Wiang Khum Kham, the ancient city that pre-dates Chiang Mai. We make a quick stop at the Kawila monument, an important figure in the rebuilding of Chiang Mai after the final Bumese invasion. We cycle through Kad Somphet, Chiang Mai's best fresh market and after passing through Tha Pae Gate and re-entering Chiang Mai's old city our last stop is at the Three Kings Monument and/or Wat Luang The order and selection of places visited on this tour varies daily as we constantly find local festivals and other activities to take part in. This is a very low impact itinerary involving approx 25kms of cycling on good flat roads with plenty of shade and rest stops, lots of photography and just taking it all in. We avoid the factories and potteries that are really only shopping stops and concentrate on the real heart and soul of Northern Thailand.
Easy rating for all ages. 1200 Baht full day including bicycle, helmet and lunch or 900 Baht half day not including lunch. Water and snacks provided. (Min 2 people).
